i start most days massaging my feet – out of bed and sit tall in the old wooden kitchen chair from my father’s mother’s apartment in nyc, bend forward from the waist a few times and then lift my right foot onto my left knee: use both hands to twirl the foot one way and the other, a few times each way, then squirt some lotion in my palm and massage through my toes, over the ball, around the heel and sole; then, with the right foot still up, bend forward from the waist a few times before switching feet for the same three manuovers (and then continue with floor exercises, basically yoga) – but today I had a real massage! I’m lucky to know a massage therapist willing to barter her services for my art. Today I met the person from her last appointment who said, while we were standing around switching activities and she realized I made the art in the office: “I always find something new when I look at your art.” a massage in itself…
